Nitter/XCancel is dead, alternatives to get X's RSS/feeds?
I think the title pretty much sums it up. I used to get feeds from a few profiles on X, as I'd rather have everything centralised, searchable and archivable rather than just go to X to search for specific posts from people I wanna read everything. So, any (free) alternatives to Nitter/XCalcel so I can turn X's posts into RSS?

Podcast subscriptions without RSS? Any work-around?
I want to buy podcast subscriptions to get rid of ads. Unfortunately most providers no longer offer rss feeds for itunes (they used to) I like adding the private RSS because you can download the mp3 and put it on and old mp3 player, like the tiny clip-on shuffle mp3 player. I don't like carrying phones or looking at screens when I'm exercising.

Local-only RSS reader for Chrome — no account, no server, OPML import
I wanted an RSS reader that didn't turn my reading list into someone's dataset. Most Chrome extensions want an account and sync your subscriptions to their servers, so I built my own.
Canopy Reader has no backend at all. Feeds and read state live in chrome.storage, and the extension makes exactly one kind of network request — to the feeds you added yourself. No account, no analytics, no paid tier. About 50 KB.
Three-panel layout, RSS 2.0 and Atom, feed autodiscovery from a site URL, folders, OPML import/export, unread badges, background refresh, j/k/r/m/u/o keyboard nav, light/dark.
What it doesn't have: a filtering rules engine, social/YouTube feed adapters, or cross-device sync (that needs a server, which defeats the point).
Coming from another reader — import your OPML and subscriptions and folders come across in one step.

I built a web RSS reader that turns feeds and topics into one continuous audio briefing
I have been working on PressPlayed, a mobile-first RSS reader built for listening instead of scanning.
You can select publishers you already trust and group their feeds into briefings. If the subject matters more than the publisher, you can also enter something like “housing market” or “Fed interest rates”; PressPlayed finds relevant current coverage across sources and builds the briefing. Articles are extracted server-side and narrated continuously in the browser.
It also supports a narrator choice, language filtering, a minimum article length, played-article skipping, and muted words or phrases.
I would especially value feedback from people who already care about RSS:
- Does the source-versus-briefing model feel intuitive?
- Which portability features matter most to you—OPML import/export, visible raw feed URLs, or something else?

9to5Mac has a summary of yet another response from OpenAI. OpenAI doesn't believe any specific trade secrets are even alleged. From the filing:
Apple all but admits that it has not yet identified the alleged trade secrets, promising an “iterative process” of discovery, after which it will tell Defendants and the Court what the alleged trade secrets are.
The hearing is October 1st. OpenAI's DevDay is September 29th. Hopefully we'll see the new device before the lawsuit goes much further.

Hey everyone,
I've been working on NewsGator, an open-source project I'd like to share with you.
The problem
You follow 50 RSS feeds in 5 different languages, get 12 newsletters a day, and end up reading nothing because sorting through it all takes too much time. Traditional aggregators give you 3-line teasers, you click through, find 10 articles about the same thing, and you've wasted 20 minutes.
What NewsGator does
- Ingests your RSS/ATOM feeds and keeps everything, even after restart;
- Fetches full article content — not just the teaser, the actual text with images;
- Summarizes and generates an honest title in your language, regardless of the source language;
- Groups articles by event: 10 articles about the same story = 1 "Story" with a summary that evolves as new facts come in;
- Swipe interface on mobile (installable PWA);
- Transparency dashboard: token cost and LLM latency visible in real time.

I want to be upfront about this:
- Summaries can be wrong or biased. An LLM is not a source of truth. NewsGator is a triage tool, not an information source. You trust the summary to decide whether it's worth digging into, then you verify at the source.
- I strongly recommend running the LLM locally. NewsGator is provider-agnostic: any OpenAI-compatible LLM works — Ollama, llama.cpp, LM Studio, MLX, or a paid API if you prefer. But ideally, run a model locally. No leaking your reading habits, no recurring costs, no dependency on an external service.
- A small local model is enough for summarizing articles — you don't need a giant model.
- If you do go with a paid API, everything is measured (tokens + latency per call) with a "price playground" to estimate costs.
The project is open source — feel free to ask questions, share feedback, or contribute.

When I was coming up as a young dude in tech, the old saying was “No one ever got fired for buying IBM.” Today, in 2026, it’s Claude in place of IBM. My father worked in marketing at IBM in Armonk, so I heard a lot about their strategies that meant the IBM brand would be kicking ass forever. All things must pass. But in the early days of the PC industry, IBM sure had the power. Kind of like the US going to war with Iran in 2026. In the end IBM wanted to get rid of Microsoft, but Billg had the last laugh. -
I thought it was a dead pixel, but there's actually a tiny chip in the glass of my MacBook Pro screen. Annoying in the nitpicky, small life problems kind of way. Really want to keep this machine another couple years.

Wanting to see the original site would be a manual action.
No ads, no pop-ups, no cookies walls, just plain text,titles and basic images.
Reading on mobile without reading mode On for most news sites is such a pain in the A’s, it’s horrible what they have done with the Web.
Thank God the blog ecosystem is clean, fast and un tarnished by these shenanigans.
What bothers me even more is Google actively pushing scammy, dirty sites on its News pan on every Android devices shipped, Google is curating “News” sites filled with Ads, Scams and deep redirect that actively drive the user to even more scammy site is literally automated enshitification.
It’s horrible to browse the web on mobile in 2026, we gotta to do something!

Cheryl’s family hired a cult consultant, contacted ex-members, police, FBI, and journalist Alice Hynes, and used supportive contact to keep ties. Cheryl's niece suffered severe mental and physical decline, before returning home in 2022–2023, stayed partly involved until stopping completely in 2025; Cheryl now runs a YouTube channel to raise awareness and advise families to stay connected and nonjudgmental.
