  • Ep 1 | Alien Illuminations: The Day of Disclosure Revisited

Picking up where we left off after the 2023 hearings, we explore what has happened since then and ask the question: “Is this just a psyop?”

Colin’s Book: “Ministration of, and Communion with AngelsHERE

    Discount Code is CULTISH10

Ministration of, and Communion with Angels presents a robust doctrine of angels and explores their ministry in the lives of God’s people. With sobriety and spiritual seriousness, Ambrose calls believers to recover a full-orbed supernatural worldview—one in which God’s holy angels guard, guide, and minister according to His sovereign will.”

  • Anke Richter, Part 2 - Harem Culture, Leaving ISTA, and DeCult

This week is part 2 with Anke Richter, journalist, author of Cult Trip, former member of Tantric group ISTA, and founder and director of New Zealand’s cult conference DeCult. In part 2 with Anke, she explains how the founder of International School of Temple Arts had constructed a sort of harem culture and was sleeping with all the women, where the line is between normal dating in a community vs. coercion, and how her journalistic investigation into a different tantra group while still actively in this one finally set off her alarm bells.

They discuss what’s positive about the tantric world, how the flip side of sex-positive groups can be a pressure to act sex positive when you don’t actually FEEL sex positive, and why she started cult conference Decult.

  • Risky Business #848 -- OpenAI comes clean

On this week’s show Patrick Gray and James Wilson are joined by guest co-host Brad Arkin to talk through the week’s news, including:

    • The AI-agent-hacks-stuff saga continues. This week we have one booting gymgoers from full classes to nab its owner a spot
    • Somehow OpenAI’s legal team allowed the company to spill all the Hugging Face tea at BlackHat and it’s hot and delicious
    • More details emerge about Iran’s hacking campaign against US water utilities, but Brad is unimpressed
    • It turns out TeamPCP has been around longer than we thought and predates the AI era
    • Some absolute plonker kept the DEFCON party going on a Delta flight home. No word yet on if they made the plane fly sideways
    • Much, much more

This week’s show is brought to you by cloud security platform Prowler. Founder and CEO Toni de la Fuente chats about what the company is doing with AI and some of the cool ways customers are using it with Prowler.

  • Fauci, RFK Jr., and the Latest in American Health

More To The Story: Lettuce contaminated with cyclospora. Cruise ship passengers contracting a deadly form of hantavirus. Legionnaires’ disease (yet again) in big cities. RFK Jr. refusing any responsibility for measles outbreaks. That’s just a brief list of public health stories in America this summer. And we haven’t even mentioned Dr. Anthony Fauci being held in contempt of Congress during a hostile Congressional hearing over the Covid-19 pandemic. Public health stories are everywhere right now. So that’s why we invited epidemiologist and science communicator Jessica Malaty Rivera back onto the show. Malaty Rivera fills a vital role through her work translating medical breakthroughs and sorting through conflicting health advice. It’s a role she says the public needs now more than ever. On this week’s More To The Story, Malaty Rivera talks through the ongoing efforts to link vaccines and autism at the highest levels of the Trump administration, which produce we should (and shouldn’t) be eating right now, and the many ways the federal government’s response to public health crises today are driven by politics rather than science.

  • Can Dems Put Woke to Bed?

Republicans amp up the fear-mongering on "communism" as Democrats try to move past some of their nominees' most controversial past statements. In the words of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: "Woke 1 was crazy." Jon and Lovett discuss how Democrats can pivot, today's Democratic primaries in Wisconsin and Minnesota, Trump's desperation to end the war he started, and his newest executive order on vaccines.

They also react to the Senate Republicans' YOLO caucus surrendering on Todd Blanche's confirmation, Jesse Watters's disdain for the WNBA, and Hunter Biden's appearance on Tucker Carlson's show. Then, Lovett is joined by Montana congressional candidate and smokejumper Sam Forstag to discuss why he's running for office, the impact of the DOGE cuts, the housing crisis in his state, and more.

  • The Cult of Lush

Prepare to be love bombed by a bath bomb. This week, Iman follows her nose into the aggressively fragrant Cult of Lush with the Scam Goddess herself, Laci Mosley (@divalaci) . Beneath the glitter, naked packaging, and promise that an $18 Sleepy Bear can fix the economy, they uncover corporate “family” language, personality based group interviews, mandatory hand washing rituals, limited edition scarcity, alleged union busting, and enough employee horror stories to stain a tub permanently. So light a candle, protect your coworkers, and keep the bathwater out of your eyes. Is Lush a harmless cosmetic revolution, or is something murkier bubbling beneath the surface? One thing’s for sure: watch your back, wash your front, and for the love of God, wash your tub. • #558: Hyper-Personal Software with Python

Every company has one. The little internal tool that Jane built back in 2021, and then Jane left. Nobody understands it, nobody will touch it. There are two unwritten rules around it: don't change it, it's working. And if you break it, you bought it. That's dark-matter enterprise software.

For every app you can actually see, there are ten of these sitting in the shadows, frozen. Michael Booth thinks that just changed. He read my article on hyper-personal software and ran with it, writing about hyper-team software: small teams inside big companies finally building the tools that were never going to get built.

We cover where this works, where it quietly goes wrong, and the guardrails that keep it from turning into a mess. Let's get into it.

  • How to Surveil the Police (with William Gude)

Go to https://surfshark.com/404Media to get 4 extra months of Surfshark VPN, with the reassurance of a 30-day money-back guarantee, or just use code 404MEDIA at checkout. That's https://surfshark.com/404Media. This week, we talk to William Gude, who runs Film the Police LA. Film the Police LA is a YouTube channel, Instagram account, and Twitter account where William does exactly what it says in the name: He films police in Los Angeles to hold them accountable. William has been doing this for years, and has captured a series of police abuses during what are supposed to be routine traffic stops or other encounters that don’t need to be so tense. What I like about William’s work is that it’s a mix of very serious accountability journalism mixed with some humor—William is a funny guy whose rapport with cops in the videos he makes often palpably brings the tension down between the police and the people they have pulled over. William also documents surveillance in Los Angeles, and has taken to filming and talking to the Serve delivery robots in and around Hollywood as they often screw up, get stuck, or are messed with. We talk about the utility of filming the police, how people can get into police watching, what he’s learned over the years, the state of the LAPD, the spread of surveillance, and what it means to surveil the police right back. • Gloriavale: "Gloria Fail" (UPDATE)

**NOTE: This episode originally aired in 2024, but a LOT has happened inside this cult since then. None of it surprising, all of it sick, and we'll fill you in on all of it.     Jason Christian was born into Gloriavale — a self-proclaimed utopic Christian community of more than 500 people on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. His grandfather, Hopeful Christian, was the leader. Shut out from the outside world and forced to work on the farm at the age of six, Jason was primed to live a life without actual freedom, as this group of true believers was all he knew. But when it was time for him to marry a woman in the community that was chosen for him, Jason made a different choice.     ____________________________

  • World Leading Psychologist: How to Manifest Anything & Create the Life You Want

Today, you are going to learn the science of manifestation, visualization, and imagination - and the steps you can take to start creating the life you want.

In this powerful episode, Mel sits down with Dr. Cassandra Vieten, PhD, a clinical psychologist, professor at UC San Diego, and one of the world’s leading researchers on imagination and consciousness.

Dr. Vieten directs the Center for Human Imagination at UC San Diego, leads the Center for Mindfulness at UC San Diego’s Centers for Integrative Health, and her research has been cited more than 5,000 times.

Together, Mel and Dr. Vieten unpack the science behind changing your mindset in order to change your life.

You’ll discover how your mind shapes your reality and learn practical, research-backed techniques to shift your thinking and create new possibilities.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

-The difference between manifestation and magical thinking

-How your imagination shapes your decisions, identity, and future
-How to stop reacting to life and start intentionally creating it
-How to use visualization even if you do not naturally see pictures in your mind

-Why imagining the worst case keeps your body stuck in stress
-How to meet your future self and use that vision to make better decisions today
-How to break out of a “reality tunnel” and see possibilities you have been missing

Dr. Vieten’s research is clear: Your imagination is not an escape from reality. It is one of the most powerful tools you have to change how you see your life, what you believe is possible, and what you do next.

By the end of this episode, you will know how to get off autopilot, break free from the stories holding you back, and use imagination, visualization, and manifestation to start creating a more intentional and hopeful future.

Samantha Hancox-Li talks about the return of international competition in our increasingly unsettled age. In historical perspective, far from being an alien imposition on "normal politics," international competition has been a feature of human societies from the start.

Reflecting on how the pressure of competition has driven both mindless militarism and genuine modernization—from the mass grave at Gomolava to the Meiji Restoration to the Kitchen Debate—she argues that liberals must remember that liberalism works.

  • Is the Progressive Takeover Real?

MS NOW's Chris Hayes joins Alex Wagner to talk about what Democrats should take away from the progressive movement's big primary win in Michigan and how the party's reaction may predict what's ahead in the 2028 presidential election.

They debate whether Abdul El-Sayed should continue to campaign with leftist Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, discuss how AIPAC's media strategy is backfiring with voters and how ideals of masculinity continue to influence our politics.

  • Midterms, AI, and MAGA with Dr. Jen Golbeck

Half a percent doesn't sound like much. In a close midterm, it is everything.

Dr. Jen Golbeck has spent two decades as a computer scientist studying what the internet can figure out about you without being told — and she now spends her nights as a working journalist inside the most extreme corners of American politics. Both halves of that job point at the same machine: an economy built on collecting everything about everyone, and online communities that offer people the one thing they most want, which is belonging.

Dave and Jen talk about how far surveillance has actually gone, why she thinks the AI bubble is at its top edge, what a decade inside far-right forums has taught her about how ordinary people radicalize, what she saw on the street in Minneapolis during the ICE protests, and what is genuinely worth doing between now and November.

    Guest

Dr. Jen Golbeck — Professor at the University of Maryland's College of Information and director of the Social Intelligence Lab. She writes the daily MAGAReport newsletter and reports for HuffPost and Esquire.

On today's episode of the Cult Vault podcast, Kacey interviews actor/filmmaker and screenwriter Adam Burke and actor Mike about their indie feature Wet Paper Bag, set at a couples wellness retreat that functions as a coercive, cult-like environment and slow-burn psychological thriller.

  • 40 Acres and a Lie Part 1

Patricia Bailey’s four-bedroom home sits high among the trees in lush Edisto Island, South Carolina. It’s a peaceful place where her body healed from multiple sclerosis. It’s also the source of her generational wealth.

Bailey built this house on land that was passed down by her great-great-grandfather, Jim Hutchinson, who was enslaved on Edisto before he was freed and became a landowner.

“I know this is sacred land here,” Bailey says, “’cause it's my ancestors and I feel it.”

Union General William T. Sherman’s Special Field Orders, No. 15—better known as 40 acres and a mule—implied a better life in the waning days of the Civil War. Hutchinson is among the formerly enslaved people who received land through the field orders, which are often thought of as a promise that was never kept. But 40 acres and a mule was more than that.

    It was real.

Over a more than two-year investigation, our partners at the Center for Public Integrity unearthed thousands of records once buried in the National Archives. In them, they found more than 1,200 formerly enslaved people who were given land by the federal government through the field orders—and then saw that land taken away.

None of the land Bailey lives on today is part of Hutchinson’s 40 acres. Instead, her family’s wealth is built on her ancestor’s determination to get and keep land of his own, after losing what he thought he had gained through the field orders.

This week on Reveal, with the Center for Public Integrity, we’re revisiting our three-part series in which we tell the history of an often-misunderstood government program. We explore a reparation that wasn’t—and the wealth gap that remains.

This is an update of an episode that originally aired in June 2024

  • Tucker 2028?

Tucker Carlson, with the help of Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie, explores launching a third-party bid for president.

Jon and Dan discuss how his candidacy could upend the 2028 election and the latest from the 2026 midterm elections, including Trump debuting the Republican strategy against Abdul El-Sayed, a centrist think tank's $15 million war against the Democratic Socialists of America, and the disgusting allegations against two Republican representatives — Max Miller and Chuck Edwards — that could put their seats in play for Democrats.

Then, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley talks to Dan about why he decided to jump back into the race for Wisconsin governor.

  • Russia-Ukraine War Ground Truth (ft. Analyst Michael Kofman) | Swedish Spies, Iran Pause, AI Fears

Is the Russian military actually losing ground, or adapting faster than Western allies realize? Fresh off a tour of the Ukrainian front lines, Senior Fellow in the Russia and Eurasia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Michael Kofman delivers a realistic assessment of the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine war. Kofman explains why Ukraine is in its strongest position since mid-2023, how Russian military commanders reporting false progress to Putin may lead to a mismatch between goals and means in the war, the strategic implications behind Ukraine’s recent command changes and political shifts in defense procurement, and why it’s critical that NATO learns what it can from Ukrainian force exercises to be prepared to face Russia’s next post-war threat. Sir Richard Dearlove and co-host Kate McCann unpack the latest and most significant news stories in geopolitics: the launch of Sweden’s own civilian intelligence service, whether President Trump’s rhetoric on Iran reflects uncertainty or strategic deception, and the data supporting the skeptical American attitude about AI.  In this episode: (02:13) Sweden to Launch Its Own MI6 (06:01) Trump Hyperbole and Iran (09:18) America’s AI Skepticism (12:26) Interview with Michael Kofman (13:10) State of the Ukrainian-Russian Frontlines (15:30) Russian Military Goals vs. Means (19:43) Russia’s False Picture of Success (23:17) Evolution of Warfare on the Frontlines (28:58) Assessment of International Response (33:18) Patriot Missile Licensed Production Timeline (37:02) Changes in Ukrainian Defense Leadership (43:28) Corruption, Procurement, and Funding in Ukraine( 48:58) Russia’s Threat Post-War(54:50) Ukrainian Morale on the Frontlines\(57:18) Defining the Front Line of Fighting (01:00:21) One Decision to Watch (01:02:47) Takeaways, Audience Comments, and Wrap Up Show Notes:  The Next Russia Threat: Moscow’s Military Power After Ukraine | Foreign Affairs: www.foreignaffairs.com/russia/next-russia-threat-michael-kofman   Hosted by Sir Richard Dearlove (former MI6 Chief) and co-host Kate McCann (Political Editor at Times Radio). • Where are they now? Gerette Buglion on Writing to Reckon (Part 2)

Gerette Buglion’s back for part two of our catch-up. This one dives deeper into the messy, important work of healing through writing, therapy, and self-trust. She talks about internal consent, knowing when to pause, and why it’s so important for survivors to move slowly when a story starts to light up the nervous system.

We also get into the realities of publishing after cultic abuse, including how predatory dynamics in the writing world can hit old wounds hard, and why it’s crucial to know your allies and keep strong boundaries. Gerette shares how survivor experience can help you spot when something is genuinely off versus when an old trigger is getting activated. She reflects on the value of humor, love, and safe enough relationships in real healing.

The episode wraps with more on Living Cult Free, including its discussion groups, symposiums, and survivor-centered podcast, plus a vivid dream exchange that lands on themes of predators, intuition, and self-reliance.

  • Spent the last week mostly on the backend of RSC to be able to better moderate, govern an instance.

Admins can now moderate own instance and also moderate how remote users from other RSC instances are ingested/displayed on/with the instances an admin federate with.

Later on we'll need roles so that an instance can have users with moderation capabilities, allowing an admin to share governance with members

The moment we federated even just with demo RSC instance, the lack of observability, control and moderation quickly became problematic

The whole point was to give admins a full view of all the feeds added by users with the capabilities to moderate if necessary.

I think the current backend controls + API admin capabilities will be enough to build on top without much friction

There is also a simplification of the backend code ongoing, we'll constantly face this kind of targeted refactoring because the project is very new and still finding its way.

    Anyway, more news soon :)

Oops we are about to have an API now..

Still polishing a few things but you'll be able to use a user generated/governed api keys to read/write on your account and read the firehose
There is also a anonymous firehose entrypoint, this could allow anyone to create a completely different UI for any given RSC instance or God knows what other applications on top 😊

  • Anke Richter, Part 1 - Ecstatic Dancing, Tantric Sex, and Joining ISTA

Today is part 1 with Anke Richter, journalist, author of Cult Trip, former member of Tantric group International School of Temple Arts, and founder and director of New Zealand’s cult conference DeCult. In this week’s episode she shares how she began as a journalist investigating cults, but when she went to a tantric sex festival, she had a peak experience with ecstatic dancing that made her never want to go back to her old way of life.

She’ll talk about doing her first training in tantric pleasure, which got her deeper into ISTA and the idea of tantric polarity and exploring her feminine energy that she’d felt she’d been missing, and how the intensity and the highs she felt in these communities made real life seem boring. Plus, how there often aren’t a lot of sexual communities to choose from in general, which can create room for the sketchier ones to flourish.

  • From Pirro to Zero

Trump trashes Jeanine Pirro — and may be on the brink of firing her — for admitting in court that his narrative about "vandalism" in the Reflecting Pool is a lie. Todd Blanche secures his path to confirmation after  offering holdout Senators a meaningless written assurance on the weaponization slush fund.

Trump backs down from yet another threat to completely destroy Iran, RFK Jr. lashes out at CNN's Dana Bash, and DNC Chairman Ken Martin faces new allegations of mishandling the infamous 2024 autopsy.

Plus, the launch of Vote Save America's Crooked Dozen, updates on the disgusting Max Miller saga, and a conversation with surging Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong.

  • The Cult of Sister Wives

This week, Chelsea, Reese, and Iman dive into The Cult of Sister Wives. Join us as we entice you with a little TLC chatter, before diving a bit deeper into the actual belief system that inspired it. We chat with Calvin Wayman (@calvinwayman), who grew up in a fundamentalist Mormon polygamist family with one dad, four moms, and 44 siblings, to unpack why plural marriage is tied to the highest level of heaven and what it actually takes to leave a community where your entire life exists inside the bubble. From wife rankings to celestial kingdoms, church arranged marriages, and the staggering cost of starting over, this episode straddles the line between reality TV guilty pleasure and actually living in this reality. One thing's for sure: if an angel shows up demanding your husband collect more wives... maybe ask a few follow up questions first.

  • UFO-Tantric-Doomsday-Alien-Fairy-Angel-Sex Cult - Pt2: "Jump Ship"

Everyone gathered on the deck the day Yo promised the mothership was finally coming. They waited… but alas, it never came.

In PART 2, the magical fairy tale capsizes. Laurien becomes one of Yo's chosen women, and soon finds out exactly what that costs.

And when she finally tries to leave, they abandon her at a foreign train station with a stolen passport, no money, and 25 cents for a phone call.

She got out. But getting out wasn't the end. Decades later, the experience still leaves her caught somewhere between grief and longing, showing us all just how powerful belief can be.  Especially when it's backlit by yachts, beautiful people and the glistening sea.

The group, by the way, is still going strong, but mostly on land now, in an apartment complex in Ibiza. Cult paella anyone??
