Maybe one day we'll have a better way to verify humans on the web. CAPTCHAs are too user-hostile (and will become ineffective). Scanning eyeballs with an orb is too dystopian. Requiring a credit card or drivers license is clunky and risks privacy. Dunno.

I got access to W Social, so I can now test cross-posting from Micro.blog and tweak any Bluesky-only assumptions in my code. But the verification process is pretty complicated. QR codes, mobile app, scanning passports! This is a lot of friction.

I've been wondering ever since whether there are any other tools like moRSS.it online, that allow anyone to make a full text RSS feed from any webpage FOR FREE.

A genuine no-AI problem RSS needs solving (+ giveaway)
I genuinely think RSS is more relevant than ever in 2026.
There’s so much content online now, and RSS is still one of the few ways to say: these are the people and websites I actually want to hear from.
No algorithm trying to guess what else might keep me scrolling. If I follow soccer, I want soccer - not hockey, random influencers, or whatever else an algorithm wants to test on me.
I use RSS every day for work, hobbies, and keeping up with writers I like. And despite all the AI-generated noise, there are still plenty of people writing genuinely good articles on their own blogs (http://www.aaronsw.com/2002/feeds/pgessays.rss, https://daringfireball.net/feeds/main , https://simonwillison.net/atom/entries/ , https://pluralistic.net/feed/) among many others.
The one thing that always bothered me: if someone I care about publishes something, I usually won’t know until I remember to check my RSS app.
That’s basically why I built Hushread.
It keeps checking the sources you follow even while you’re asleep. Under the hood, I run a VPS with proxies that keeps polling the pages you follow. The moment it finds something new, if you’ve turned notifications on for that source, you get a push notification.
That’s it. No big AI pitch, no fluff. This was genuinely the problem I wanted solved for myself.

Frontier update
Frontier work going much better today we’ve got all the built in verbs in the product reviewed tested and I’m not finding any problems as I create software for deploying this stuff.
The first thing we had to get working was being able to move objects from the 2011 frontier to the 2026 frontier and we got there today. The next thing that’s coming is being able to do updates for users with new parts and changes to existing ODB elements.
So once that’s working, we can start fixing bugs and looking for problems and things didn’t get ported correctly. We have a new gate. Every change must be vetted by reviewing the 2011 code, and doing exactly what we did then.

Years ago, the principal at my kids' school would always remind students that when given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind. This was a line in the book Wonder, adapted by author R.J. Palacio from a similar phrase by self-help author Wayne Dyer.
Being right matters, but it's not always the most important thing. Some people are so sure they're right that they justify treating people harshly. Worse, they might still be wrong! Let me illustrate this with a table:

Learned something yesterday. Couldn't believe how stupid Claude had become, as I've been writing about here, and then I noticed that I was using Opus 5 and not Fable 5. So I switched back and all of a sudden Claude is smart again. So I conclude that there's a very substantial difference between the two. It's overnight jobs were done more carefully and the report it produced is literate, understandable, and tracks what we had agreed to.

I made an RSS reader that also writes. Your posts live in your own repo.
I made Nook, a native RSS reader for Mac and iPhone. It also writes.
The reading half is boring in the best way: folders, OPML in and out, offline storage, reader mode, regex keyword filters, refreshes on the OS scheduler instead of a push service.
I invented nothing here, I just kept adding whatever annoyed me that week. No account, and nothing about reading phones home.The writing half is the interesting part. Publish a post and it becomes a record in your own AT Protocol repository, the same kind a Bluesky account has.
The page and the feeds are generated from that record, which is the real copy rather than a row in my database, so you can take it and leave. Microblog, normal blog, or yelling into the void with a valid feed, all fine.You will check the feed anyway, so: full post in content:encoded, guid is the record's AT URI with isPermaLink="false", Atom beside every RSS.
Mine: https://nooker.app/@tim/feed.xml"Will this be gone in six months?" Fair question. I read with it every day, so my reason to keep it alive is selfish, and I run it cheap on purpose. Whatever it does today, I plan to keep doing. If the bill ever gets scary, it means I either got greedy with features or this got popular, and if it is the second one I will gladly go find the money.

I put an RSS reader directly into my Chrome new tab
I wanted to follow RSS feeds without opening another website every time.
So I added an RSS/Atom reader directly into my Chrome new-tab workspace.
The idea is that your new tab can become a small information dashboard instead of just a search box.
You can have:

WorkspacesThe extension is ARC Tab, and the core workspace is local-first with no account, backend, analytics or telemetry.
The RSS reader is currently one of my favourite parts because I can open a new tab and immediately see the feeds I actually care about.

Built an Android app that follows YouTube channels via RSS instead of the API
Wanted to share this here since it's a fairly literal use of RSS: YouTube still exposes a per-channel RSS feed even though it's not advertised anywhere. My app (Focus Feed) uses those feeds to pull new uploads instead of going through YouTube's API or algorithm — so you just get a plain chronological list of what channels you follow have posted, no recommendations, no autoplay.
It also supports per-channel keyword filters on the RSS titles, and you can pull a whole playlist's feed in at once. No account or sign-in needed, it's just consuming public feeds.
Curious if anyone here has run into limitations with YouTube's RSS feeds (delay before new uploads show up, missing metadata, etc) — happy to compare notes.

People who have tried the Apple model like how it fits in a pocket, the feel and durability of the advanced hinge mechanism, and the new iPad-like app layouts that take advantage of the larger internal display. It’s going to be an ultra-premium device that provides a halo for the full Apple lineup and will be a marketing engine to get people into the company’s retail stores.
At $2k, it's just too premium for me. I still think what I'd really want is a foldable iPad mini with no outer screen.

Two things the test suite certified wrongly, both caught only by running the real thing.
The route exported a helper for its tests. Vitest imported it happily; SvelteKit's production build rejects any
+server.tsexport that isn't an HTTP verb. Green tests, broken build.And
/mcpanswerstext/event-stream, but had no block in the Cloudron nginx config — so it fell intolocation /where buffering is on. That file already warns about this twice, for two other SSE routes. No per-task review caught it, because no task owned nginx.conf. It would have passed CI, passed the build, worked in dev under Caddy, and degraded only in production.The general lesson isn't "write more tests". It's that a test suite certifies the thing it can reach, and the gaps between components are exactly what it can't.

Today's development version of Frontier is buggy and the kernel developer (Claude) keeps breaking the most basic verbs. You spin your wheels and wish you could get them to just get keep it together. I remember this from the work that led up to Frontier version 1.0 in 1991 or so. It was a miserable time. Never got to work on what I wanted to, just reported breakage, often a session-ending dealstopper. The sad part is that Claude should be able to find the things it broke on its own, far better than I can and at a much lower expense (I'm paying for its time, not the other way around). But basically every day begins optimistically, maybe today is the day I get to create something, but not yet. I did have a couple of days a week ago when I could tentatively work on building a GitHub repo, but then got distracted by verifying that the basic foundation still wasn't right. My only goal right now, and I'm single-minded about it, is to get it to move forward without breaking the essentials, then without breaking anything.

The book has Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy vibes in that it doesn't take itself too seriously, and is a lot of fun to read. Highly recommended.
