🔗 The first surgical Apple Vision Pro application approved by the FDA
… because of course the Vision Pro is useless and nobody wants it.

I’ll just let this settle here ….
🔗 George W. Bush still sucks. - Exploding Comma
YUP. I dropped a comment to this effect in a couple of places earlier this week - posting here again to amplify the reach.
each of them in turn just ratcheted it up - they are all complicit.
I know nothing .. so it is sad that if I want to find out if this is true or just propaganda to suit the regime, I have my work cut out.
Of course there is a second issue …100,000 people losing jobs in middle management and then adding 162,000 jobs in warehouses and fast food chains isn’t neccesarily good news ..
is income lost across 100,000 jobs less or more than income gained across 162,000 jobs?
we live in a world of multiple jobs held by people just to survive, how many people with no income versus now having income is surely the better measure?

I wonder why posts that I know have images at source and are being routed here are not revealing the image? The images are appearing in NetNewsWire.
This is a post .. where will it route to?
Time will tell .. I am expecting it to not appear where I want it to.

📺 Not yet finished watching all 5 series - but just letting you know that ‘Brassic’ is just wonderful.
Dear Apple and Google if you do this:

I wonder if you install Apple‘s public beta now you could essentially queue jump the waitlist for Siri when it goes into production❓

It’s not all going up …
Noting that the new 🍎 🔗 Polishing Cloth costs less than the old one. It’s still overpriced by around $9.
Scott Bessent, the Treasury secretary, is preparing what he calls an “economic D-Day,” economic sanctions that will bring the Iranian regime to its knees — a tricky proposition since, according to those same officials, Iran is already on its knees.
🪦 Farewell Dolly …not a giant fan of your music .. but a massive fan of who you are, what you did and how you lived. Thank you.

👁️❓ Did the people who are currently watching Ted Lasso four rewatch Ted Lasso one, two and three before starting? Asking for a friend.
🔗 Daring Fireball: Apple TV Still Has No Start Date for 'The Savant'
Given that it’s now the middle of August, I think that a July release is looking less and less likely by the day.

A great way of showcasing this little corner of the internet - still sitting in my Overcast feed - despite the passing of 4 years.

Apple likes to say that music is part of its DNA. I suggest they schedule some genetic counselling.
I agree, though I have never managed to articulate the prescription so succinctly.

🔗🕋 Structured Thought is catching on
This one from Evan Shapiro - who after producing 6 annual flat files of - well to be honest - interesting - but not very useful insights into the media landscape has just outdone himself.
Scott Brinker should do the same - similar idea in a different space - but 🔗 this one has been going now for 15 years!
‘Content’ is homogenous undifferentiated fodder that is poured into silos with pricing you would expect from any interchangeable commodity .. if that describes your writing, it might explain why nobody values it.

Email was supposed to be an open, decentralized protocol. Instead, a handful of monopolies have effectively privatized deliverability: they decide whose mail is trustworthy, whose isn’t, and independent servers are guilty until proven innocent.

I just looked at: valid.rss.chat for john.philpin.com - and no dice ...
Turns out that my blog isn’t 'malformed', it is because Micro.blog’s RSS feed output does not currently conform completely to the RSS.chat interoperability profile.
I can wait.

🔗 Trump To Order Redesign of Aircraft Carriers Because They Don’t Look Right
This comes after Trump just a few days ago ordered the Navy to go back to steam-powered catapults (the thing that hurls the planes forward off the ship for takeoff) from the new electromagnetic catapults. He apparently wants to do this because he once talked to a catapult operator who told him the old kind was better.
