Hi everyone, I’m building NewsSphere and thought people who follow news across multiple feeds might have a useful perspective on it.
The problem I’m trying to solve is losing the thread of a story. You miss a few days, read the latest update, and can’t quite remember what led to it.
NewsSphere groups coverage into ongoing stories, with a timeline of developments and links to the original articles. There’s a bubble map for exploring stories and a list view on mobile.
It isn’t an RSS reader, and you can’t currently add your own feeds. It uses a selected set of news sources, with AI helping group coverage and summarise developments.
The hardest part has been recognising a continuing storyline rather than simply grouping articles about the same topic. A reader recently spotted college-football game results mixed into a postseason-reform timeline. They made a fair point: two connected entries are more useful than five that only share a topic. I’m working on improving that.
You can try it here: https://newssphere.app
I’d appreciate your perspective: does the timeline add useful context beyond what you get from your reader? Or do your existing filters, saved searches and folders already handle this well?
I’m the creator, and it’s still a work in progress. Thanks for taking a look.
