  I find that in general adding smtp for outbound email can be a hurdle as it usually requires a smtp server. I run in to this with many self hosted apps that use email for notifications. SES might actually be one of the straightforward ways to handle this but it should be documented. I get around the issue with FeedLand because it also supports WordPress authentication.

    I have not set up a SMTP server before, and I am not opposed to using SES, but as you say, it should be documented. I noticed on the rss.chat repo issues that Ricardo Mendes has noticed that the flag for blocking users is not documented - how ironic!
